Testing and Performance of Farberware Classic Yosemite Stainless Steel Coffee Percolator (8 Cup)

Brew Time

I looked at the time to first perk, or how long it takes for the water to begin boiling, to determine the brew time. The Farberware Percolator takes 5 minutes to reach boiling point with a 3-cup capacity, or 18 ounces. It takes 8 and a half minutes to prepare a 6-cup (36 ounce) capacity. It takes 13 minutes to prepare an 8-cup (48 ounce) capacity.

These are only estimates and are subject to change based on a variety of conditions, including the temperature of your water, the temperature outside, how much heat you use, and other things. I boiled tap water on medium heat with the water at room temperature.I allowed the coffee to brew for around 7 minutes on medium-low heat after the water had boiled.

Capacity

If each cup is 6 ounces, the 8-cup coffee percolator claim made by this Farberware Yosemite Stainless Steel Percolator seems to be rather realistic. It was just barely below the spout hole when I added 48 ounces of water. With this quantity, the Farberware Percolator functions flawlessly and doesn’t boil over.

What is the minimum capacity, on the other end of the spectrum? Here’s what my “brew” looked like when I tried to make just 1 cup, or 6 ounces, of coffee. simply some grounds and some water.

Ease Usage

Three markings can be seen on the outside of the Farberware percolator. They’re placed immediately beneath the handle, which is an odd arrangement. When there is sufficient light shining at the proper angle from the interior, the markings are easily visible. However, the marks are harder to notice from various angles as I carefully move the Farberware coffee pot.

About 28 ounces are included in the bottom marking, which reads “4 cups.” About 40 ounces are contained in the middle marker, which reads “6 cups.” The water level is also barely touching the bottom of the spout hole at the top marker, which reads “8 cups,” and measures roughly 52 ounces. The Farberware Percolator has a lovely, sizable, and cosy handle.

But because it’s not particularly heat-resistant, the section that’s closest to the pot warms up, sometimes even getting hot.On medium heat, the handle’s remaining portion is fine. Actually, Farberware warns that their handles may become hot and recommends using potholders, so they aren’t the most heat-resistant. A transparent perking knob is included with the Farberware percolator so you can see the colour of your coffee as well as when the water begins to boil.

About the Cleaning Process

Throw the grounds away, then wash the Farberware Percolator’s parts thoroughly with water. For a thorough washing, they are simply disassembled. I discovered that percolating water is more efficient in removing the oils from coffee beans.

Except for the perking knob and the spring, it is also largely dishwasher safe. The Farberware Percolator’s rolled-in lip is one thing to take note of in this picture. I washed the coffee pot, but when I turned it upside down afterward, water accumulated in the lip.

Weight and Value

This brewer is one of the heaviest in our study since, as was already mentioned, it weighs a massive 1 pound, 11.7 ounces. This might not be a problem if you’re in a large vehicle like a car, van, or RV, but there are still more flavorful and convenient alternatives to think about.

The most affordable large brewer in our review is this percolator. Despite the fact that it works, the coffee is disappointingly bland. We believe your money would be better spent on another device if flavour and usability are important to you.

About the Quality of Farberware Classic Yosemite Coffee Maker

Both the lid and the coffee pot from Farberware are constructed of stainless steel. The interior and outside both have good finishes, and after a few weeks of use, I haven’t noticed much staining. The exterior has a mirror shine. The spreader, filter basket, and stem are all made of the same stainless steel as the pot and are all rather durable. When the cover is on, the percolator is securely inside the pot and, despite my shaking it, makes no sound.

The perking knob is made of glass, but it is just somewhat thick—less than 2mm. But it’s simple to put it on and take it off of the lid. There is a plastic ring that holds the perking knob in place; you cannot screw the perking knob in firmly without it. However, I don’t believe the plastic ever comes into contact with the hot coffee. My glass knob has been really simple to use and never comes loose when I use it.

Four interior welds secure the handle to the pot, which is composed of durable plastic. The handle hasn’t become loose for me either, despite the fact that the instructions state to tighten the exterior screw with a screwdriver if the handle does.

What are the Pros of Farberware Classic Yosemite Coffee Maker?

Conclusion

I could make anywhere from 3 to 8 cups of coffee with it, and even though it’s not pricey, the build and finish are of high quality. In fact, compared to the other percolators I own, my Farberware percolator offers me the most capacity versatility.
